A Message From Mr. Moffett

Mr. MoffettDerby Hills Families,

Welcome to Derby Hills.  I am honored to serve as your student’s principal. This is not a role that I take lightly. I am committed to each student’s success and looking forward to partnering with each of you to see your student(s) reach their full potential. I encourage you to take a minute to read the vision and mission of Derby Hills Elementary. This mission serves as a daily reminder to our entire staff.

Derby Hills is a place of endless possibilities. We take pride in our commitment to maintain a family-focused and value-oriented educational experience. Our mission is to ensure that every life, every day is impacted positively with meaningful relationships, a safe environment and a rigorous curriculum. Through strong partnerships with families and the community, Derby Hills Elementary is inspiring the 21st century learner toward a lifetime of responsible living.

We focus on helping the “whole child.” This means helping your student far beyond the academic areas.  We are excited to offer “Dragon Clubs” one Friday a month, where teachers will lead extracurricular activities with small groups of students, and “Wellness Wednesdays” one Wednesday a month, where grade levels will spend 30 minutes walking, running or dancing to help keep stay active. Regular activity and exercise changes the brain to improve memory and critical thinking skills. We believe both these additions to our schedule will benefit your student. Lastly, don’t be a stranger to our campus. We love parent volunteers and your students love having you at school. It’s so important to stay informed and engaged with your student’s education. We have an active social media presence and we invite you to follow or like us on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat (dhedragons), Pinterest and Instagram. Here’s to an amazing school year of excellence and endless possibilities.

In the interest of ALL Derby Hills students,
Mr. James Moffett - Principal
